People’s Family of Corporations is pleased to announce the Grand Opening and Naming Ceremony for their new Lacy Clay Center for Children’s Health located at 5647 Delmar Blvd. The center is located east of the Social Security Administration on People’s Family of Corporations campus. The festivities will take place on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., starting at 5701 Delmar Blvd., parking lot.
The new $6 Million Dollar facility houses three floors to accommodate 20,000 square feet of clinical and counseling support. The facility will address behavioral health needs of children and adolescents in the St. Louis urban community. This project is the culmination of coordinated programs and donors that have had a positive impact on healthcare for residents of the Metropolitan St. Louis area.
Currently, one in every ten children and adolescents “in our urban communities,” have behavioral health concerns. The goal of the Center for Children’s Health is to put behavioral health at the forefront of our community’s health discussion and not let health issues go unaddressed. The building was designed by Kennedy Associates Inc. (KAI), the longtime developer of urban building solutions. The contractors for the project were Hankins Construction Company and Raineri Construction.
When asked about the creation of the Children and Adolescent Center, Dwayne Butler, CEO of Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers & People’s Family of Corporations said …. “I am thrilled to see the success of the Center for Children’s Health. All too often, children whose behavioral health issues go unaddressed, grow to lead lives of violence and incarceration. It is the time we bring this issue of behavioral health to the forefront of our community’s overall health discussion and treat it with the dignity and respect our community deserves.”
“It is important to be aware and to know how to address behavioral health concerns of our youth,” said Mark Sanford, Executive Vice President, People’s Health Centers. He goes on to say, “community access to services is critical to moving families from poverty to becoming self-sustained. This fair will provide access to tools and support needed to start that journey.”
Invitations to the opening and naming ceremony have been sent to community advocates, and elected officials to share in this final phase. The public is invited to attend the ceremony with People’s Family of Corporations Resource Fair Celebration on the grounds of the health center located at 5701 Delmar Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63112. The event will take place from 10 am – 4 pm. The ribbon cutting ceremony starts at 11:15 a.m., and culminates with the naming ceremony and tours of the Center for Children’s Health.
Resources for the community will include health screenings, school supplies, and kids’ haircuts. There will be a DJ, food, drinks, games, raffles, and more. This year’s resource fair will include live entertainment from the renowned local group the Dirty Muggs. The Beats 100.3’ Osei the Dark Secret will broadcast live from the event.
